More Knowledge about Thermosiphon Solar Water Heater

Thermosiphon Solar Water Heater works following the principle: warm water rises when a phenomenon known as natural convection happens, to circulate water through the collectors and to the tank. In this type of installation, the tank must be located above the collector. As water in the collector is heated, it becomes lighter and naturally rises into the tank above. Meanwhile, cooler water in the tank flows downwards into the collector, thus causes circulation throughout the system. These systems are reliable and relatively inexpensive, but require careful handling during installation since the water tanks are heavy.

In a thermosiphon Solar Water Heater, household water or a heat-transfer fluid moves through the system without pumps. This kind of passive system has the advantage that electricity outage and electric pump breakdown is almost impossible. Generally speaking, the passive systems are more reliable, easier to maintain, and possibly longer lasting than active systems. Passive systems are often less expensive than active systems, but are also generally less efficient due to the slower water flowing through the system.

How to select a good thermosiphon solar water heater?

The key point to select a good thermosiphon solar water heater is checking the materials manufacturers use. As we all know, the welded joints of stainless steel are easy to be damaged, especially when stainless steel is too thin. Realizing this, Gaia Solar makes inner tank for thermosiphon solar water heater with SS, whose thickness is 0.5 mm, greatly increasing safety of thermosiphon solar water heater. While, many manufacturers used 0.31mm-thick SS to make inner tank, the cost indeed reduces but danger increases. The material for outer shell is also important to the quality. If the outer shell is too thin, when making insulation, the outer shell material is easy to be pressured and changes shape. We use 0.6 mm thickness SS to make outer shell, while, most manufacturers use only 0.4 mm SS as outer shell. So, when selecting a thermosiphon solar water heater, inquiring the material information and then comparing the price is very important. Certainly, the thickness of insulation can also be considered. Common thickness of insulation is 45 mm to 55 mm and the thickness of Gaia thermosiphon solar water heater is 55 mm.

Common Sense of Thermosiphon Solar Water Heater

1. Input the water into the tank when there is water but not full in the tank, input the water into the tank in time when the tank is empty. Don’t input water if the empty tank is shined for more than 15 minutes. Input water in the evening or next morning to protect the vacuum tube from big temperature difference.

2. Prevent from scalding yourself by hot water while bathing. Turn on cold water gate valve firstly, turn on hot water gate valve secondly, then adjust water temperature and volume.

3. Make the water tank full before using the assistant electric heater, heating without water is strictly prohibited. For the sake of security, switch off the power first, and then use the water.

4. Please turn down the input gate valve while inputting the water into the high water pressure area, infuse water into the tank slowly to prevent the vacuum tubes moving down and tank leakage.

5. The getter of glass vacuum tube tail should remain clear at any time. Mist indicates that gas enters the vacuum heater tube. Then please change the tube.

6. The air vent in the tank couldn’t be blocked up at any time, or the tank would be damaged for swelling and sucking.

7. Keep the tank full when it’s windy, stop using it when it’s thundering. As to the tank with electric heater, we must cut off power before bathing.

8. Pay attention to the heat preservation in the water.

9. Dust will decrease the transmission rate, so clean up the dust on the vacuum tube and reflection foil regularly.

10. The special foot of frame should be fixed firmly against the strong wind.

11. Don’t change the structure of the water heater at will.
